The people who insist on five shot groups either don't own sporter barrels or have plenty of time to spend waiting on their next shot. A good nose picking could take that long I guess.
A five or ten shot group only tells me that your barrel doesn't wander as much as mine when it gets hot. Or vice versa. Big deal! For shooting critters or paper for recreation, three shot groups tell enough of the story. IMO.
Competition shooting would be another story. For the majority, on GBO, I think a three shot group tells us as much about the gun, ammo, and shooter as we need to know.
Just my opinion. I gotta go practice that nose picking thing in case I'm forced into five shot groups for credibility purposes.
As far as the original topic goes, I don't care what you shoot. A Remington or Savage. At the range I talk to everyone regardless of their preferences. I enjoy the camaraderie. I've seen great shooting from both brands. I have to chuckle at topics such as this. The biggest difference between the two brands is that nose picker sitting behind the rifle. That's my opinion based on my observations.
Shoot 'em if you got 'em. Borrow one if you don't!
