I banned one of you Handi-Holics from the site tonight
« on: March 08, 2007, 05:44:15 PM »
Tonight I had the displeasure of banning one of you Handi-Holics from the site. If he could read it likely wouldn't have happened. When you get an e-mail notice of a new PM (sent ONLY at your request) the e-mail specifically says to NOT reply to it but to go to the PM and reply there. He did reply to the e-mail and guess who gets ALL such replies. Yup the old fat Graybearded one.

In this e-mail notice he specifically stated he was going to violate both GBO TOS and federal law so he is banned. I guess you might say his crime was gross stupidity.

Who? Swampman.

Folks if it comes to my attention you're violating the TOS you'll generally get a warning depending on the severity but if I find you're violating the law you're HISTORY at this site and I don't care who you are.

Yup if I don't know it that's one thing but when ya mess up and put it in an e-mail to me that you're gonna violate federal law I have no choice in what actions I have to take. We fully cooperate with all government agencies in their investigations of law violations. So telling me yer gonna do something illegal ain't real smart.

It says not to reply and he not only replied but stuck his foot in his mouth when he did, I feel sorry for him but he did it himself. It reminds me of something that happened to me early one morning as the Corporal at the local State Police Barracks. About 0400 the local paper delivery man stopped in to drop off some newspapers and told me there was a restaurant/bar down the street he dropped off papers at, when he pulled in he saw the door smashed open and when he looked in he saw a guy asleep at a table by the front window, I dispatched a Trooper in the area to check it out. It seems the guy had broken in to rob the place, took a few swigs from a bottle from the bar, kept searching for more money and kept taking more swigs, he got tired and a little drunk so he sat down at the table and took a few more swigs of the stolen booze to fortify himself, he was cold because he had smashed the door in to gain entry so he took a few more swigs to warm up, he finally passed out at the table in the front window. He offered no resistance to the Trooper who arrested him and just about had to carry the drunken B&E artist to the cruiser to transport him to the barracks where he was booked and held for court in the morning. The papers got ahold of the story and made it into a small but rather funny front page article. Sometimes people just don't think and do things that are not in their best interests....<><.... ::)

Your right Mac, they only thing we did not do was take a picture of the B&E drunk passed out at the table in the front window of the bar next to the smashed in front door for presentation in court. We got a guilty on it anyway but to have that picture to present to the judge - priceless....<><.... ;D

Basicaly what it is , there is an option. that you can use to tell you if you have a new PM on GBs via e-mail .. What he did was anwser the e-mail with so some things that he should not have instead of going to the PM system .

It says to not respond to this e-mail but to go to the PM system and reply .

The "Rules", as Bill put it....

Quote
Firearms Sales, GBO is in no way responsible for the sale of firearms on its web site, any member offering for sale a firearm must follow all Federal, State and Local laws that govern the state in which the sale is being made from and to. Any member buying a firearm posted for sale on the GBO web site must follow all Federal, State and Local laws that govern the state in which they intend to have the gun delivered. GBO is not a "middle man" and no one representing GBO has any part in the sale of or the collection of the money for any item located for sale on the GBO web site nor do we have any dealings in the shipping of the items.

I'm aware of no FEDERAL law on how many you can sell but many states have such laws. His e-mail stated he was going to transfer a gun out of state and not use an FFL to do so. I have no doubt folks do it from time to time but it's not legal nevertheless and if I ignored it then I'd be in trouble as well as him.

Graybeard did the right thing i think the only thing that went well past the line. We are looked down on enough because we own buy and sell guns. I have had "offers" to sell without a FFL i work at a prison i don't look good in them jumpsuits :o.

Doggoneit! They poor guy was just trying to pay his taxes. I know rules are rules, but he contributed a lot to this group. I also know you can't jeapordize the whole forum to one person making a mistake. What a shame, I gotta go back and re-read those rules and FAQ's. I'm sure that I and others probably jumped across the line a time or two. Doggoneit!  :( :'(

Darn shame.   I just was notified that a new rifle I ordered had arrived but I am not able to drive to pick it up (work hours changed)so.... since I really wanted the rifle I went and found a FFL gun shop to receive my rifle..... total cost for using the FFL $20   Less money then I would have spent in gas.

I am a firm believer in rules and regulations but that can be related to being Active Duty for 20 years and it sent that trend in stone.

The rules are there for our own safety. Don't need the guns to fall into the wrong hands.
