I owned the less fancy version with iron sights, the Model 9000, in the mid 1970s. I think the Model 8000 was the fancier rifle. I remember the rifle was very similar in appearance to the Remington Model 700s I owned then. To me, it was an average rifle, accurate enough and well made, but not noteworthy. It was chambered for the .30-06. I did not buy the rifle new, but from the original owner. I sold it because I decided I had enough .30-06 rifles at the time, and wanted to experiment with some new cartridges (the 7mm Remington Mag). I bought it because it was a good deal, having paid about $100 for the rifle with a scope, a set of dies and some reloading components.
