Show & tell...
« on: January 13, 2007, 05:08:47 AM »
Lets see what ya got. Mine is the T3 laminate stainless steel in 338 Win Mag. I could never like the cheaper injected molded stocks, especially for something in a higher recoiling rifle, thus my decision to opt for the heavier laminate.

Man that is nice.  Mine is a T3 Hunter, wood/blue .30-06, with a Vari-X III 2.5-8 on Talley mounts.  No pics yet.  My next one will be laminate/stainless like Peterbilt's only in .338 Federal.  Rev

The first deer with my T3 , December 15th.  One of my goals was to get a deer with my .30-06 in the anniversary year of the caliber.  The Tikka performed flawlessly: heart shot at 50 yds.  I couldn't be happier, we had deer chilii for Christmas Eve.  Rev

379,

I love the Laminate/Stainless combination.

I wanted a lightweight .25-06, so I went with the T3 Lite.  I had a spare Bushnell Elite 3200 laying around so I mounted it up in November and was very impressed with the accuracy.  So much so that I purchased a Nikon Monarch to replace the Bushnell!  Now I just need to settle on a scope mount and I will be set.  I'll post a pic or two when I get it mounted up.

Rev,

I like your combination as well.  Now I have to decide whether I want stainless/laminate or wood/blue for my next Tikka! ;)

I don't  have pic's but I have a Tikka Whitetail Hunter in 300 Win Mag, it has a Leupold Vara XIII 3.5 X 10 X 50 scope and Tikka rings and mounts. It went with me too Alaska on a Caribou hunt and I took a nice Caribou at 300 yards.  ;D

Mine is a Tikka T-3 lite Stainless Synthetic chambered in .30-06. It shoots very well with Federal Premium 165 grain Sierra Game Kings. It shoots very well with just about everything I have tried but I like these the most. I have taken about 10 deer with it and every one of them fell in their track except for one, he was the spike pictured and he ran about 20 yards. The rifle wears a Weaver Grand Slam 3-10x40 scope. I used the factory rings until a few weeks ago when after a long day at the range I noticed a little slippage of the rear ring on the dovetail. I probably could have just tighened it up and been fine but I didn't want to take any chances so now she wears a set of Talley Lightweights.

Here she is when I first brought her home.

Here she is at work.

Here she is with the new Talley's

and just one more

maryland,

Good move on upping to the talleys. I myself have never liked the factory Tikka/Sako ones. At least for something with any recoil to speak of that is. I also prefer the torx heads on the Talleys as well, vs the allen heads on the factories. JMO

Am thinking you went with the Talley lows, aye?

379 Peterbilt , Yes I went with the low rings. They went on really nice, they're rock solid now and I like them a lot.
I took the factories off and replaced with the Talley's and went to the range. I didn't have time to bore sight the scope. When I fired the first shot at 100 yards it was 3" high but dead on (left and right). I moved the scope down 12 clicks and was in the bullseye.

What a nice looking rig tennbuck, and a real shooter to boot ;D

If those Tenn. deer want to make it thru next season, they ought to start looking for hidding places now ;)

I think you'll find that you will really like the 2-7x33 on that rifle.

Grats on a great setup. Best wishes with it.

tennbuck, nice outfit.  They will sure shoot won't they? I was at the range with mine this morning trying some different loads to see which one shot the best.  I shot 4 different 165 grain .30-06 loads: Winchester psp, Nosler partition, Barnes tsx, and Hornady interbond.  They all shot so well at 100 yds that it was hard to tell which is best!  As I kept shooting I got a few flyers with the Barnes and the Hornady.  The Nosler finally won out and shoots in virtually the same POI as my Winchester silver box, all the way out to 200 yds.  So, I can use the Noslers when I need a premium bullet and can use the Winchesters for our Arkansas deer and bear (the Winchesters have proven themselves on deer & bear already).  Blessings, Rev

6.5x55 SS/Lam Sako 75 with a S&B 3-12x50 Precision Hunter in medium Optilock mounts.

I haven't shot anything except paper yet as I have been very busy with work and had issues with my health lately but I'm hoping to get a nice sika doe before the end of the season here.

I certainly wish you well with your health issues and hope you a speedy recovery.

I hear that is one sweet shooting caliber. Good luck with your Sika hunt.

I got my Tika T3 lite in 270 win. late last summer mounted a Leupold ultra light 3x9 so the whole outfit weighs in at 6 lbs 12 ounces. I also changed out the buttpad to one from limbsaver and put 95 rounds through it befor it ever went hunting. I got it for backpack hunting into the high alpine. And I am truly impressed with the accracy of this gun the secound load I tried in it shot a 3 shot  100 yrd group in to .423 inch. Here's a pic of the gun when new with the Leupold scope and here it is on a couple hunts and one more  Hope you enjoy.
