Well, I raced home today after church, and ran out to our deer camp to shoot the gun for the first time. I bore sighted the scope last night, and I had a box of Winchester Power Points, and a box of Remington Core-lokts. I wanted to see if it shot one better than the other. In four shots, I had it dialed in pretty close to the bull. I could already tell it was shooting were I aimed. I only have about 50 yards to work with there, and all I wanted to do is get an idea of how the gun shot, and I wanted to put some rounds through it.
The first paper is the Winchester 130 gr. Power Points. There are 16 shots there. I did make a scope adjustment during that group. I wasn't real excited about it, but it was the first shots through the gun, and I was getting used to my cheek weld.
The second paper is the Remington 130 gr. Core-Lokts. After about 4 shots I knew that I was on to something. The gun obviously likes the Core-Lokts better. I made 1 scope adjustment after about 14 shots to raise where the bullets were printing. There are 20 shots there. I know this was only 50 yards, but I am feeling pretty good about my first trip out with it. I think with a trigger job and a little more breaking in, it will be even better. I can't wait to take it out to 100 then 200 yards.
The scope is a Bushnell Banner 3x9x40 with Weaver extra high rings. So far I like the raised cheek piece because you still have the feeling of a scope being low, but the extra high rings give a little more trigger clearance. If anyone decides to order this stock, the regular Weaver high rings are not high enough. I tried with ones I had.
Thanks for all the replies guys.
