My local shops both have Whelen brass available so I picked 50 up already.
I have never seen Whelen ammo on a shelf, so I doubt I will shoot factory ammo first for this chambering.
I stumbled on RCBS dies yesterday, so I bought it - I thought I was going to be mail order for those. This is my first set of RCBS dies.
I also saw some Nosler 225 Balistic tips on the shelf yesterday. Initially I thought these would be what I was going to shoot, until Nosler discontinued them. I dont want to fall in love with something that I cant buy in the future so I passed on them. Too bad, because this was one bullet box that Nosler was price competitive with. Oh well, maybe thats why they dropped it, were not able to stick it to us on the item. Eventually, the 358 dia BT is going to be replaced with a 358 dia accubond.
Next on the list is to decide on my first powder choice for this one. Its getting difficult to keep the number of different powders I use managable. I just picked up H110 for the 357max and the 44mag. I could use Varget initially for the Whelen, but I dont think it will satisfy me. Im not shooting enough anymore to use up a pound of powder in each gun very quickly. Life was much simpler when I just experimented with the 30-06.
