Have Rem prices jumped up lately?
« on: October 09, 2006, 01:09:29 PM »
Got a buddy looking at Rem 280 Mt rifle.  He just bought earlier this year 2 Rems.  One in a 270 Mt rifle for a little over 5 bills.  Now the same place is quoting him over 7  :o.  Has Rem prices just jumped up, or is there something else amis?  Now these prices do take into account the 270 off of the shelf and the 280 to be ordered.  I am happy with the 270 price cuz he sold it to me, for my son in law, for 500.00. :)

I dunno.  I know the price of gas and toilet paper and beans and flour has gone up.  Whiskey and beer is up.  Preporation H is up.  I guess its a sellers market.

Remington prices do seem to have gone up a little.  The last 700CDL that I bought about 18 months ago was $602 at Wal-Mart.  Now a 700 Mountain DM is $654.64.  I just bought a new in box 700BDL for $500 through a local pennysaver want ad.  Maybe I should buy some more before I can't afford them any more?

The guy that owns the gunshop that I frequent told me that he can't give an accurate quote on a new rifle because of the fuel surcharge involved in shipping the guns.  He can give a ballpark figure, but he lets you know straight out that any price could be, and most likely will be higher than a quote when the rifle shows up.

Since Remington has to pay to have all of its supplies shipped to their sites, I would imagine that the price of guns will rise as much as anything else that is shipped via ground transport.  Probably more if it is shipped by air.

I'd sure say that prices have gone up. I can't think of anything that prices haven't gone up on.

I used to be able to get a Rem rifle for about 400.00 but now it cost about 800.00 maybe more.

Actually it seems to me that the cost of publications like newspapers has yet to go up. We get three newspapers over the weekend and for the past 10-15 years, the total has come to $4.00...without fail. Not to go off topic but that is probably the only thing I have seen so far that has not gone up in price.
