haven't named my handi 22-250.....but I have a tricked out M-14 that I named "ole painless"....

I have an old H&R 12g shotgun I used for CAS with BP loads. It was good for that type of shooting only. If you tried a modern smokeless load. even a light target load, it would unlatch and eject the empty. I called this one Premature "Jack".

my Hornet is called "Killer of Giants"
in 5 years its put down over 2 tons of meat, all one shot, drop them in there tracks kills.

My honet handi doesn't have a nick name but I refer to it as my favorite gun very often. My wife was shooting it today, I hope that wasn't a mistake. It may get renamed "her gun".

Long ago when my days were raw and red I shot M14 for the Army. A good friend of mine who also shot quite well would use the term "Umbriago" when either of us was really on target. This term was thought up by Jimmy Durante and Pep used it rather than any four letter word. My handi is in .308 and right out of the box was dead on and user friendly. I think of it as Umbriago. My friend taught me that swearing (blasphemy, obsecnity) was mostly useless. Pep didn't make it back from Nam

The only one I have a name for is my 45-70 and it is my "Howitzer" My brother actually named it after shooting a #1 level load

45-70 = 'Ol Thumper
12 Ga. Slug gun = Ouchy!

The rest have not earned nicknames as of yet. The name comes nauturally and and has to feel right so it can't be rushed. Although the .17 may be called "The Fly Swatter"...not sure yet.

It seems that many 45-70's are named 'Thumper' as mine is. My favorite is still my old 30-30 tapered barrel. It is light and 'handy' and I always called it 'Sweety'.
Only other gun that named is my Bushmaster AR and that is 'Thelma'. That's because my name is Lewis, or Louie, or Lew for short. So it comes out close enough that I just named it after the combination, 'Thelma and Louise'. 44 Man

"The Ventilator" is what I call my hornet because it never misses. Its the only gun I have a name for. If some critter is running around my Dad's I ask him if he wants it ventilated... he knows what gun I mean

I have Amish neighbors about 5 miles away and one of thier boys delivered a loaf of bread one day last fall and spotted my 45-70 and Hornady LE shells on the table and said "wow whats that mister? an elephant gun?"
So the name stuck.

The wife likes to spot for me when i sight one in and the other day I was sighting a new scope on my little 223 and after three shots at 100 yards she said " They keep going in the same hole" so we named it rabbit!

I have only two Handis so far, but I name all my guns. My Handis are 44Mag = Hannibal and my 223 = Clarice.

my 45-70's named the boston whaler after the very well made boat. It seems the 45-70 gets a pet name a lot in here

My BC 45-70 is "Big Booty Trudy" because that was my first thought when I saw that nearly half inch dia.
bullet that would exit that 32" tube (She's a "Big Ole Girl)

My 3.5 inch 12 gauge turkey special with the metal rod taken out of the buttstock is called thumper? No brainer there. The muzzle rises about 60-70 degrees on each shot.

One day I offered to loan my .444 to my father for primative weapons season in front of about 25 family and friends. He made a very comical, huge over the top display by jumping out of his chair, waving his arms around and stating "there is no way I'm shooting that bazooka. There want be anything left of my shoulder or the deer." It stuck now it is simply reffered to as "the bazooka".
