38s in a 357 Max

How accurately does a handi in 357 Max shoot 38s?  How different is the point of impact?

You really should check the FAQs before asking questions, chances are that your question has been asked before, see Shooting 38special and 357 Mag in Maxi?. ;)

Tim

I looked at the FAQ before I asked, I've looked again, I tried to search using words in your string and I can't find it.

I cringe EVERY time I post a question here because I don't want to get the dreaded "Check the faq" response.

The FAQ is large.  I'm not intimately familiar with it, because I don't have constant questions, I just have occasional ones.  If you don't know if something is there, and you don't know what words the topic is under to search, you often don't find something.  Next time I have a question and I can't find it in the FAQ, I will assume it's in there and refrain from asking it.  I'll just wonder if it's here and ask it somewhere else.

The ctrl f page search is real easy to use, you don't have to use an entire search string, just a keyword,  38 in this case will find it.  ;)

Be aware that not all Maxi reamers will improve the accuracy of the shorter rounds, my PTG reamer cuts the throat to better align the bullet in the bore for better accuracy, this specially helps the shorter rounds that may reach the rifling with a bit of yaw which degrades accuracy. So far, my reamer has made 74 happy Maxi owners, Rodland will be doing #75 shortly, he got the reamer today.  ;)

Excellent reamer will easily re-chamber a 357 Mag to a Maximum. True 6 deg ramp. You can chamber completely or stop when your target / hunting load touches the bore. I have re-chambered 3 Handi Rifles with this reamer and all three shoot excellent groups.

Got the reamer, used it, and sent it back. I will let you know what and how it shoots by tomorrow.

Oh by the way, what does lucky #75 win?

Ok,with my new improved 357 MAX, I went out this afternoon and shot some 38's. Free hand, open sights, at 45 yards and I can still hit a coke can. Not bad for a 64 year old that can't half see. That is all the range time I could muster, IT WAS HOT outside today.

And thanks Tim for the lifetime membership.
