Hard to argue with the last two.  At least they make sense.

This just goes to show you why you will never get a fair deal in court. All the LEO's circling the wagons to protect one of their own. He is in the right no matter what he did. Every LEO on this forum backing him up.

Ever considered waiting for the forensic results and the report by the State Bureau of Investigation before making judgements and drawing conclusions?

For one I ain't a LEO, all I have said since this thread started was wait for the results of the investigation before we tar and feather the man!
Then this character says that none of them have any conscience. Kinda like saying all folk that own guns are right wing radicals huh?

"Police: Man shot dead by officer in Lakewood refused to put weapon down
LAKEWOOD, Pierce County — Police say a man refused to put down a weapon and was coming at officers when one shot and killed him in Lakewood."

Let me guess, hmmm, this officer is guilty too..... ???

Indeed. Within the last two years two local officers were fatally shot when responding to a domestic disturbance call.  When the same situation happened 2-3 months later (another domestic disturbance, man comes out on porch waving gun at the officers) they didn't wait for a second before opening fire.  That particular guy didn't die, but the officers had learned their lesson from the earlier incident.

I wonder though: how many would have jumped on the case of the two officers who were killed if they'd have dared try to defend themselves.  I wonder if they'd have shot the perp before he got them how many would have declared that we'd never know HIS side of the story.

PS Link on the story for anyone interested: http://www.palmettocops.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=12715&PN=1

Its been a month since the original post; any updates? any charges filed against the deceased or the officer? is the family suing anyone? Those are good indicators.

I believe that the NC SBI has not completed their investigation yet, the results to be turned over to the DA when done.  I Google it every few days and haven't seen any updates recently.  IIRC, it was predicted to take several weeks.  Sad story, I hope the investigation will verify the truth, whatever it is.

Age doesn't have anything to do with it. A man, I think in his '70's, killed a state trooper with a rifle over a seatbelt ticket a few years ago.

It's bad enough that Liberals want to outlaw our guns, don't give them a reason to outlaw "old men" too.   ;D

Honestly, I am afraid you are too late on that. Check out the new reforms in the national health care programs.
I keep looking for a final report also but it seems to have gone away.
What is the truth? IMO, an old man stood on his feet and defied a law to his death. That is his right and he took full advantage of it. Was he correct? nothing in this seems to justify him pushing the envelope this hard.

... but make sure you die having fought at least one.

Wow! Now that is an interesting idea. But what motivates us (or the old man) to decide which battle to choose? This is worth pondering a few minutes.  ???  I will get back to you on this one.

In the one you "may" be thinking of it is a win/win.
I agree that a person should fight any battle he wants.
I also think that if it is that important too you, it is that important too you to win the battle.
That right should also be awarded the opponent.

Choose them well and without temper.
I recall a Herken Forrest, a Tarawa and a small valley in Viet Nam.
