OK. A dozen years ago I was lucky enough to have fired a select fire (AR 18 legal) model. I liked it in semi and didn't like the seeming lack of spare parts. M16 mags worked..... sometimes. The new version takes them I'm told.

I have had two come through my classes!  both failed to make it through the 1000k fired in 8 hours!  many issues that couldnt be tracked back to the mags or ammo !

Thanks DEPUTY. Well, does anyone know of a readily availible, reliable, accurate  .223 and not the AR-15 OR Mini- 14?  Maybe I'm better off with an AR-15?

The AR-15 is a good platform but if you want something else take a look at the Remingtion model 7615 patrol rifle at www.remingtonle.com

Just took my new AR-180B out for a test spin.  Fired 100 rounds of UMC at tatgets from 50 to 150 yards and all I can say is it hit whatever I pointed it at.  No hiccups, and it handles like a dream.

I wish I had gotten one years ago.

I'll be shooting it some more tomorrow.

I've had one for over a year now and LOVE IT!  It's a lot easier to clean than an AR 15 because none of the gas (carbon) ever gets to the receiver.  I use some "aquired" M16 mags from work, and haven't had a single issue in well over 1000 rounds.  I haven't done any heavy-duty firing (1000+ rounds between cleaning), but I would be willing to bet it will make it.

Didn't get to shoot.  Weather was too nasty.  I'm going to find the nastiest laquer coated Wolf ammo that I can and see how it does.

I've taken my AR 180B out twice now, and put about 200 rounds through it with nary a hiccup.

Zeroed it at 25 meters with 62gr Wolf HP.  It will easily hold a 3/4" group (3MOA) from a prone unsupported position.  I'd like to see how it would do from the bench.  It was a simple matter to ding a head sized rock at 250yds from a sitting position.

I LIKE this rifle.

I can highly recommend it.

Did some more plinking with my 180 yesterday.  Handled 55gr and 62gr with equal aplomb.  Was holding about 1.5" group off the bench at 100yds.

Has anyone used the scope mount?  How good a piece of kit is it?  Not that I have much choice if I want to mount a scope.

Good news for AR 180 owners!  Armalite has come up with a detachable 1913std rail scope mount as well as a 4 rail handguard for the AR 180.  Maybe this means that they are starting to look at this weapon a little harder now that people are interested in op-rod driven ARs.
