20ga. 870 express Cantilever Rifled Slug Barrel Choices?
« on: October 01, 2006, 10:42:12 AM »
I have looked at Remingtons 20ga. Cant. barrel, its only 18.5" long. Hastings lists a 24" 20ga. 870 Cant barrel. Are all Hastings brls Gloss blue?
I would be interested in hearing from owners of these 20ga. barrels. Does 18.5" get enough performance out of the modern sabot loads available today?
Looks like the American brls from Cabelas are 12ga. only.
Thanks ahead of time for your comments.

j41;

I have seen 20" rifled slug barrels at some Dick's Sporting goods locations usually a month or so before deer season made by Hastings

which were not gloss blue or parkerized ,the finish was sort of a cross between the two,not bad actually.GL

The Remington 870 20ga. scope/barrel combo listed at Bass Pro is 18.5", I called to make sure.

Hastings emailed me back yesterday and said all their barrels are GlossBlue?????

I might go for the short Remington barrel, I just wonder how many FPS I will lose.
