that pull-weight screw? Or should I just spend the extra 80 bucks and get a newer model with the Accu-trigger?
Opinions sought.
Thanks!

They can be made better than "decent" quite easily.  I got the procedure from some varminting site over a year ago.  My Savage 300WM shoots less than 1/2" groups with the adjusted trigger.

my stevens trigger adjusted nicely and was actually quite good. the savage 110 i had was the worst trigger i have ever used and ran out of adjustment way before it got even close to what i consider acceptible in either the creep or the weight categories.

I have it on good authority that the telepromter is writing a stern letter.

Thanks for the info. I thought the Stevens and the Savage 110 had the same trigger though? Just the gun to gun
variation mebbe? Or does the Stevens have a different/better trigger altogether?
Thanks again,

Or you could get the stevens (or older savage) and install a Timney trigger.  Quick easy, and about $60 bucks.  I've done this on 3 savages and 1 stevens.  I like the Timney better than my one savage with the accu-trigger.  Different strokes.....
I did attempt to adjust my stevens, just never got what I wanted.

They are not exactly the same. The sear spring and bushing arrangement are slightly different. The older 110 trigger had a larger looped spring with a bushing. The newer non Accu-triggers (Stevens)  have a small looped spring and no bushing.

The Stevens also does not have the sear engagement adjustment screw.

Sear engagement was regulated by the length of the screw. They were meant to be bottomed out. I think there were 3 different lengths, which is why some are too short to be effectively adjusted.   ;)
