Range report on my 6.5 x 55 SE
« on: September 27, 2006, 12:25:55 PM »
Got my 550 up and running.  So far factory loads seem to better anything I can reload for it.  Federal 140 will get just under 1 inch.  I can about match that but not better it.  So far I would say I LIKE the rifle but little down that it isn't grouping a little better.  Anyone have any reload data with work on this rifle/caliber?

Whats wrong with just under 1"? I looked at a 550 recently and that was a hunting rifle. I think that much to much is made of superduper accuracy and a good deal of it is easier to tell about than to do. Meaning a guy shoots a .5" group once so he talks about his .5" rifle. It would be pretty hard to buy an honest .5" rifle over the counter, even with the best reloads.

I kow what you are saying but you can get a .5 shooter over the counter.  It's called Sako.  However, I can buy two CZs for the cost of one Sako.  I think this gun is going to be a fine gun and is by most standards a fine shooter.  I just love seeing those 5 shot groups you can cover with a dime!!!

Yea, I know, I have a problem. :D :D
