Scope Bases for Stevens 200
« on: September 16, 2006, 12:42:12 PM »
K, I know the 200 is pretty much a Sav. 110 so I had the dude at bass pro install a leupold base and rings...but when he was installing my brand new burris ff II scope, he said he couldn't get the crosshairs to budge.  Knobs would move but the crosshairs wouldn't respond.  Then he preceded to tell me that my scope was a complete hunk of junk, simply cause it was a burris.  He was kind of a jerk about it.
Anyways, so I took my gun home thinking my scope was messed up, but then I saw that the end of the base closest to me was not flush with the gun.  The base bottom was flat but the "receiver" ?   was round.  Could that cause the problems with my scope?  a wrong base?  So I decided I'd see if anyone here would know more that the schmuck who worked on my gun.  My first rifle...still a little clueless but would love some help.

so what bases and rings should I look for?

it does sounds like you have the wrong base. When I got my fple-10 With accutrigger I ordered a set of leupold rings and base. the base I got was for a non accutriger receiver and would not match up at all. you need to find a base for the round receiver. Check the scope and see if the cross hairs move off the rifle have some other person hold it and adjust the truants and watch. You could have a bad scope as well as the wrong base

If you go to the Savage Arms web site you'll find a complete list of scope mounts that are avaiable from most popular manufactures for Savage rifles.  Once on the site, go to Customer Service then FAQ.  Several catagories pop up.  Look for scope mouints.

I just put a burris on my Stevens 200 .308. I used Weaver 46 bases and millett low rings (weaver style). Burris is a fine scope, I also like Nikon scopes.

It sounds like you may have a slight bind in the crosshair adjustment. If you find the crosshairs don't move send the scope back to Burris. They will fix it.
