guys, if he is having some trouble with the recoil of a 270 then he is not going to like the 308 all that much.
6.5X55 is "ok", pretty accurate caliber, but the choice of your gun could be better.
I would opt for one of those heavy fluted barrel rifles. Anything with a heavy barrel, and would cost you ALOT less and give you almost same accuracy.
--Savage makes GREAT heavy barrel stainless steel rifles.
--Tikkas Super Varmint class rifles, heavy barrel, MY FAVORIT LONG RANGE RIFLES, and they don't cost you an arm and a leg
--Tikka Tactical, comes in .223 / 308 / or 300 win mag, kind of expensive (1500-2000), but I heard they are super accurate.
