I have a Howa 1500 and I like it. I've heard very good feedback on the Howas all over the internet. In todays global economy, purchasing foreign made goods is unavoidable. I try to not buy stuff from back stabbing nations such as France (#1 backstabber in the world) and Germany, but the Japanese are strong allies of the US and I definitely buy their stuff.

I won't buy at Target because they are French owned. Recently they indicated that they won't support veterans causes in their charitable community contributions but do support gay and lesbian causes.
Hunting and fishing are not matters of life or death. They are much more important than that.

You must have a hard time finding a Rifle then.  Not many High Powered Rifles today are "Made in the USA".  They may be assembled here but the parts come in from all over.  Foreign out-sourcing is a common practice today.  Savage being guilty to the NTH degree.  Savage, along with the rest, may put an American Flag on it at the end, but it means little for parts produced.  Savage is part of the Savage/Mossberg/Stevens/French/Aristocratic mess in Europe.  With few exceptions, people would turn up thier nose to a wholly made American Rifle.

China, Mexico, Taiwan etc.....they have all taken the manufacturing jobs from the American people.  America is now the Worlds Premier Consumer Nation, with little Manufacturing jobs left - compared to 30 yrs ago.  This is what a Global Economy really means to you.  No really good jobs, no pensions, no obligations.  Just Buy, Buy, Buy.  With everything priced at what the Market will bear.

I have shot several Howas, and I loved everyone. For the $$ it's an awesome value, with a smooth, strong action. Not to mention everyone I shot, shot very well. You get a lot for your money, IMHO.
Just well built rifles, and one of the best kept secrets in the industry.

Doncisler,
You need to check your facts.  Check urban legends and folklore on the internet.
"Target Corporation is a publicly held U.S. company (NYSE: TGT). The company has been based in Minneapolis, Minnesota ever since its founding as The Dayton Company by businessman George Dayton in 1902. Target is not now, nor has it ever been, foreign-owned. "

There are good and bad things about the Internet.  One it spreads rumors and false information as fast as it spreads real information.
