Frame for barrels trade?
« on: December 06, 2002, 03:29:05 AM »
Lostchild, Don't forget.... it won't be long before that Contender frame will be VERY hard to come by as it's been discontinued by T/C and it's HIGHLY questionable whether T/C will ever bring it's replacement product, the G2,  to market.   (Although some would say the Encore is the replacement product for the Contender.) Yeah, from a strictly monetary value, you MIGHT can find a Contender frame somewhere for less than the monetary values of the two frames..... then again, you might NOT even be able to find a Contender frame. As time passes, the Contender frames available on the market will probably dry up and those that are available will carry a premium price. If you decide to sell the barrel to your relative, I'd be sure to tack on the provision that he give you first shot, at a fair price, if he should later decide to sell it.   :-)  Gary T.

Frame for barrels trade?

I know what you mean, I was able to pick up on 2 used SS frames for  $300.  I have a total of 4 frames, 2 SS, 2 blued.  When it looks like there is a toy I "just" have to have, I'll sell one for the "going" price.

So what are they worth then?  I have 3 but use mostly just one of them. Would it be wise to hold on to them?  Or could I trade one for some more barrels?

contender value

you are talk todays value. could be from $100. to $250. depending on a person desire. Tomorrow could be different if we never see the G-2. If the G-2 ever does hit the pubis the value of the contender could drop considerably.  I know I would want to up grade. I fondeled one at the shot show in january and it was pretty nice. If you like stainless like I do it coulds be years before you see one.

Frame for barrels trade?

:D Cliff, Barrels are still being made. Not only by TC but by several competant custom makers. Frames have not been made in over 2 years.
I am in double digit frames, I have tried to buy every frame that I have found for sale here in Utah. I guess what I am trying to say is sooner or later reasonably priced frames are going to dry up. But you will always be able to find barrels. IF AND WHEN the G2 shows up I dont think it will be as versatile as the contender. Like fully adjustable trigger. The only way I would sell or trade a frame is if you are going to upgrade to stainless or get a newer blue frame.

I bought two frames recently and paid about $150 for them.  I would like to buy two more.
