Rem 700 XCR in 375 H&H

Hi All,

     I picked up my new remington a few days ago, In a word : Great!.  The gun was accurate and light and produced about the same recoil as a 12 guage with 3" slugs.

 Good to hear Ron,
 I'm thinking of getting this same rifle. Did you get yours with sights? Is the action pillar bedded from the factory? I've heard nothng but good for this rifle so far from the people I've run into.

I've got the custom shop safari rifle model 700 in 375 H&H and it's been really excellent. It's my favorite rifle. The difference between mine and the XCR is that mine is not stainless, it has sights, and a shorter heavier barrel, and the stock is a McMillan synthetic. Feeding is especially smooth and reliable.

Hi,

     I believe they all come with sights in the 375 H & H  and 375 RUM.  After the first box of Federal 300 Gr. SP I found it to be down right fun to shot.  The R3 system works well to control recoil, at least what I feel.   Next set is a scope.  Then Fall hunting.  I hear in some parts of the country these are getting harder to find.  It took 6 weeks for me.

The more and more i hear and read about the XCR it makes me want to grab one up. But i am forcing myself to hold off til spring so i can see what the ruger 77 alaskan is all about in there new 375 ruger. Customer service over at remington wouldn't tell me if the XCR is still in the 2007 line up but they did say that they would think it would be as they are a big seller this year and doing really well.

Well as far as supply goes, it took several weeks on order, for which i cancelled, then called cabelas.  They had one....I find it after a few boxes of shells to be a well made firearm.  My only other remington rifle is a nylon 66, for which I will never part with.  I own a ruger m77 mark 2 all weather in 30-06.  If only they had one in 375 H&H I would be talking about it rather then then the remington.

I have two XCR`s one in 30-06 which was my first.  The more I shoot the 30-06 the better I like it.  So I picked up a second XCR in 375 RUM.  Waiting on the scope a Zeiss 3x9x40 to sight it in.  The Zeiss has 4 inch`s of eye relief.

the 700 XCR... would the 338 RUM kick harder than the 375 H&H ?

Well I will be honest,  I don't own or have ever shot a 338 RUM.  I have shot a 300 Wby, 338 Win and I own the 375.  I have found that on my little frame (6', 300 lbs) the wby and win has a sharper kick then the big push the 375 gives me.  The other two seem to also have a faster kick, if that makes sense.  I would imagin that the more powder in the 338 RUM would put it in the same catagory as the 300 wby and 338 win.  If there is a place you can go shot them before you buy them, I would do that.  Here is Michigan, Williams Gun Sight does.
