cz 550 American weight
« on: August 25, 2006, 09:34:16 AM »
I would like to use the American in 6.5 Swede for HP hunter silhouettes, but notice the weight is listed at 8# in the CZ catalog.  This would make it impossible to make the 9# weight limits with scope and rings.  For those of you who own a 550, is the 8# weight accurate?  It seems on the very heavy side, even for a long action.

Thanks for any info.

I don't think the rifle is 7,2 pounds, like what was posted one time, is correct. Nor do I think it is 8 pounds either. My CZ 550 American, with glassbedding, new finish, leather sling, Talley rings, Leupold 4x14x40 Scope, and rifle, tips the scales right at 9-pounds and 2-ounces. Tom Purdom

Tom:  Thanks for your input.  I really like the 452 for SB silo, and I'll give the 550 a try.  Whittakers and Buds Gun Shop seem to have the best prices.
