Alaskan Earns Bronze Star
« on: April 08, 2003, 05:29:14 PM »
This might be appropriate or not.  But, as a vet myself I have to support the troops and their accomplishments.  War is not easy on anyone.  And to rise above the rest, in times that try mens souls, is not an easy task.

Alaskan Earns Bronze Star

Gen. Tommy Franks, left, commander of the U.S. central command, shakes hands with Sgt. Lucas Goddard, of Sitka, of the 1st Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division, after decorating him with the Bronze Star on Monday in Najaf, Iraq. Center is Sgt. James Ward of Wilmington, N.C., also decorated with a Bronze Star. Goddard is a 2000 graduate of Sitka High School, and his parents, Nick and Kathi Goddard, live in Juneau. The Bronze Star is presented to soldiers for heroic or meritorious achievement of service in connection with military operations against an armed enemy.
