« on: August 13, 2006, 03:11:03 PM »

Licenses go on sale tomorrow here in NY. I plan to get mine and have it done. Best of luck with getting DMP to all

Got mine the other day and finally, a doe permit in 5N!  I had three pref points, though.  I can't wait!

I finally got around to getting mine today at walmart. # guys ahead of me all got permits for 6a. They cut them way back here this year so I figured I was screwed. Anyway I was number 4 in a row to get one. I cant wait to fill it with a nic ebig fat doe. I can start with my bow here the 27th. My 14 year old nephew is finally taking a bow course this month so he can hunt big game this year. he is as anxious to go as I am to take him.

Bubba:  Do you still have to use last years tag when hunting before the 1st of October?  I used to hate having to wait the three extra days before I could hunt if I filled my tags the year before.

When I left the state they were just starting doe permits east of Watertown so things may have changed.

before oct 1 yes you have to use your old tags. The new ones arent in effect until October 1 and the old ones are good until 9/30. I have all my tags left from last year so I am hoping for a few good days.

I remember those days of having more tags than opportunity.  Best of luck on the 27th.  The smell of autumn leaves in the air and cool crisp mornings with the Canadian geese overhead and a owl saying good night in the distance......sweet music.

sure does I am so looking forward to it. Those will be the quiet 4 days. Starting October 1st my 14 year old nephew will be starting to hunt for the first time with a bow. He will be my sidekick all season. I sure hope he gets a deer.
