« on: July 26, 2006, 11:58:53 PM »
While looking for a new .22 Mag at a local shop, I found one that is an Izhmash Biathlon for $307.00..........I have never heard of this rifle, but I kinda like the way it is made....Isd the barrel made by Anshuz? Does anyone have one or know anything about them? Accurate? Thanks in advance for the response.......................Mike

Mike,

We have variations of the Izhmash with the fortner type action sold here.

I've only seen .22lr, though.

As far as I am aware it is all Russian made at their Izhevsk plant,
more famous for the Kalashnikov AK-47.
Izhmash have made rifles and shotguns under the 'Toz' and 'Baikal' brands.

Here's a bit of info on the model that you may have there.

They're one of the biggest firearms makers in Russia. I'd be very surprised if anyone but them made the barrel. I don't know about that particula model, but that brand is known for making target rifles of exceptional functional value, but without fancy cosmetics. I've used some of their pistols and have liked them all.

From all that I hear they are great rifles.  Also they are stopping the importation of the 22 Mag, I believe.  If you want more info on the gun go here, www.rimfirecentral.com/forums  This site is all about .22's and .17's.  Look for a guy going by Riccochet, he has one and post alot about it.  Hope this helps.
