Deal or No Deal

Have a chance to but a new (only two rounds fired thru) rem sendero for 650.00. This is in the 300rum. Deal or No Deal.

I think there are a lot of other calibers that would call my name before any ultra mag.  As far as the rifle goes, I guess it depends on what you want to use it for.  But that combination would not be for me even if I was hunting dangerous game.  And I really do not think it will be around long as a marketable caliber.

Go to the place where you normally buy your ammo and ask yourself if this is the price you want to be paying for that caliber.  Then do a price check for new brass if you reload.  If these prices are what you want to pay in order to shoot that rifle, buy the rifle.

I have a Sako in 300RUM and it's quite accurate. It surprised me since my Winchester 70 Super Grade in 300 Win won't hold 3 inches at 100 yards no matter what I try.
I like the 300 RUM

No. 1 the .300 RUM is not a DGR and no one in their right mind would suggest that, it is an excellent long range caliber for elk, moose etc..

No. 2 I think the .300RUM will be around long term. Lots of guys use them for that long range hunting. With PREMIUM bullets they are very good. But due to the high velocity the premium bullet cannot be emphasized enough.

Kind of makes you wonder how we got along without all of these fancy calibers, brought out only to seperate you from your money.   Why not go out and buy a .50 BMG?  That has to be the ultimate at this point.

The fastest, the biggest, and the most powerful.   When it comes down to it, a Luxury in the extreme for a few hundred more FPS. IMO.    But hey, it's your money.  Knock yourself out.

All in all, a rifle doesn't make the Hunter or the Hunt.  I know plenty of people who would be as much or more productive with a single shot in a smaller caliber.
