Kimber 8400 Montana in 270 WSM pros cons?
« on: July 19, 2006, 11:42:34 AM »
A Kimber 8400 Montana in 270 WSM has been offered to me at a steal of a price, $675.00.  It is in like new condition.  I like what I see but know nothing about this rifle maker, or rifle.  Any opinions or experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

bigboar

Yep, that is a hell of a buy.  I have one and shopped around to get it at $900.  I have only loaded 130 & 140 grain bullets it does not seem picky.  I have one minor issue, it shoots the first 2 through the same hole and throws the third shot out 1inch or so.  The accu-bond and sierras seem most accurate.  I guess I will shoot 2 shot groups at the range.  Since I bought it to hunt with this does not bother me, I usually just need one shot away.  One thing to tell you is Kimber is proud of there bases ($50 a set).  Leupold and burris make bases, but I wanted a perfect color match.  Buy it!  I image you can make some money on it. ;)

The Kimber IMHO is THE best rifle you can buy off the shelf, and its made in the U.S to boot.  I say buy it!
I am not afraid to make an example out of you

That price seems kinda low.  Is there anything wrong with it?  Scratches?  etc.?  If not, then I would buy it in a heartbeat.

It was a great friend's that has since gone on before his hunting buddies.  I think of him scouting out the good places.  I own the rifle now, I haven't been to the range yet so I don't know if it is a shooter.  I do know when he had it it made it to the range once.  It is in like new condition with the basses mounted on it.
