Charles Daly 375 H&H, what do you think?
« on: June 29, 2006, 02:33:00 PM »
I have been looking at a Charles Daly Superior Safari Mauser in 375 H&H.  Made in Serbia I think.  I think it is the same company that is making or supoose to be making the Remington 798.

what are your thoughts?

It would be the grandchild of the Mark X Withworth 375, made by the Zastava factory, I believe.  The Mark X (imported by Interarms) always was noted for being an accurate rifle.  If one likes the looks of the rifle, I wouldn't worry about the function or accuracy.
IF THE WORLD DISARMED, WE WOULD BE SPEAKING THE LANGUAGE USED BY THE AGGRESSIVE ALIENS THAT LIVE ON THE THIRD MOON OF JUPITOR.

sherrpa: I went to CDNN just last week bought one in 458WM paid $569 and had it shipped to my dealer. It is a Mauser 98 action and barrel yes it is the same one now being sold by Remington as the 798 for 15% more than the CD is selling for at CDNN. Charels Daly is ...errr was imported by KBI of Harrisburg Pa. They were out bid by Rem. at Zastava in Serbia where the gun is made.
Rem is putting a better stock on them the CD stock that I got was an oil finished and was crappy...I reoiled the stock with linseed the day I got it home and sprayed 5 coats of satin  polyurethane over the oil . It looks sweet now.
If you get one from CDNN I would not buy the dbl set trigger model but opt for the single adjustable trigger mdl. Recoil on yourtrigger fimger is harsh when the front one hits it....I know my father has one.
Also any scope mount base that fits an Interarms Mark X will also fit the Daly. hope this helps!
