I have a 15' Xpress VJon. Its got a 40 Merc Tiller steer on it. 40 mph in 6 inches of water. I built this boat to fish rivers with. While it is on the heavy side, the welded hull takes a pounding and has no problems. It comes pre-outfitted with a front deck. I cut holes in the deck and installed boxes to hold gear (Removed the floatation) Did the same for the rear seat to hold the fuel and batteries. It shares the 24 volt trolling motor I have on My Ranger, I just bought an extra mount for it. We fish 1 tourney a year on the river and gas engines aren't allowed to be used in the tournament. I give them my kill switch and they hold it till weigh in. Don't know what I would do on a no engine lake. I guess I could remove the motor, but its not a clamp on, although I didn't install the bottom 2 bolts for that purpose.
For even lower water, my buddy has a 2 man plastic boat that we use. This thing is one of the toughest boats I have ever seen. We installed a big stainless bow eye on it, and you would be shocked at how far we have dragged this thing through fields with tractors and trucks. It has holes in it, but there's foam in the toons on it, and it floats good. Little boat will ride on a good dew. With just a trolling motor, it makes a dandy low water river boat.
