My first CZ Rifle
« on: June 17, 2006, 11:39:08 AM »
Just picked up my first CZ rifle.

CZ 527 Carbine in 7.62mm x 39.  I ordered it without ever holding a CZ rifle in my hands before (got it based on the comments on CZs in this forum).  Frankly I was amazed at the fit and finish and the WOOD is beautiful.  Been carrying it around with me all day in the house, just can't put it down.  Just hope it shoots as good as it looks and feels.  Anyone else have one of these, what does it like to shoot?  I know I should do a search first, but had to tell the forum about this rifle.

Well GrampaMike if you had been at the P.D. shoot like you should have been, you could have killed alot of them with my 527 204.It shoots .25" with the 32 gr. Blitzkings and 27.5 grs. of H 322.I've got a feeling you're going to love the rifle (especially the set trigger).   Digger

Ditchdigger wish I could have made it to the PDog Shoot with you and the other guys.  Read all the posts about it.

Today is my first day off in 16 days.  We did get 1 replacement in last week, but we need one more person to go back to a normal schedule.  We need more people to join up, getting thin in some of the ranks.

Why didn't you tell me about these CZs?  Going to get the CZ catalog to pick my next CZ.

Bought one about a 1 1/2 yrs ago for my youngest daughter.  I intended to cut the stock down to fit her.  It was just too pretty so I called CZ USA and inquired if they had any scratch and dents laying around.  $40 later one arrived that was even nicer than the original.  jeeez.  I have never had too good of luck reloading for this round.  That is to say that the Wolf 154 grn soft points shoot about 1moa on a good day.  The only issue for me is the safety is bass ackwards.  As this is the only high power rifle she uses it is not a problem.  I did not show her how the set trigger works.  Good luck and enjoy.

Hey Mike, missed you at the PD shoot too. :D
I can vouch for Digger's .204, that thing is a shooter alright. Got me wanting one pretty bad.
I'm wondering why you picked the 7.62x39 tho. Seems like you would have wanted a more conventional hunting round.......or maybe it's because they don't chamber a gun in 30-30 huh?

I recently bought a CZ model 527 American with  bird's eye maple stock and am in love.  It not only looks great, but it shots better then I do.

I put a Leopold 4x12 scope on it and it is a perfect match.  I have done all the test loads and have a bunch of 40 and 45grain bullet loads ready for the woods.

Thanks Sstt...

Thanks Lik2Hunt...

Really missed you guys in OK.

Got the 7.62mm x 39 because my 7.62mm x 39 handi-rifle is the second most accurate handi-rifle I have.  Wanted to test another type rifle in the same cartridge to see if it was a fluke.  It seems to be a very efficient cartridge.
