Words from Dan Wesson

Thank you SonnyD for this report.

Just got back from CZ days! I enjoyed my time talking with Alice, Sherry, and CJ! I learned quite a bit from CJ...Thanks go out to him.
First off the picture below in itself will answer several questions....Stainless Steel and 357Mag. This is Revolver number 1 and the only one available at this time.
I got the impression from talking to Alice and Sherry, that a lot of things may be a possiblilty in the near future. Things at the moment are a little slow. They only have a few people at DW right now, but more on the way. They still get parts in everyday, and they are over 50 guns behind at the moment, and at 1 gun per day, it's going to take a while. Yes, 1 gun per day, that is there capability at the moment.
I was told nothing much was going to happen untill 2007 as far as new projects, the remainder of this year will be staffing of DW, and catching up on back orders and supplying parts for customers. CJ did tell me he got some "in the rough" 22 cal barrel sets in....so that may be looking good after all.
Alice asked me to ask you all to be Patient, they are still researching the market. She also told me she is going to try and put together a 20-30 Q&A page that we can post here as a "sticky" for lots of common questions that they get calls for.
There are 12 employees at CZ-USA at the moment and she told me they spend a lot of time with people calling the 800 number to as about things like "what ammo CZ-USA reccomends" and "What's the Best" questions about lots of things also. PLEASE be patient with them when they don't answer the phone, or when it rings 10 or 11 times before they answer it. They have a couple of new service people starting next week, and an additional Gunsmith starting in 2 weeks. They are doing the best they can at the moment with the staff they have.....that's from me, because I could feel her frustration with the calls they get.
Sherry told me they can do DW 1911's in 9MM, they have barrels, and that it is a special order and to call her ahead to ask about price and delivery time, her Extension is 303.
I'd say after talking with them, that the future for DW is indeed brighter then I had thought, it's just going to take a little time to get the name DW back out there and to get production up to standard....so look for big things in 2007 for CZ-USA/DW
Regards Sonny

Since you seem so close to them why not ask them to "show that gladness by sponsoring this forum". I can offer them a good price on it as it's still a small one and wouldn't be expensive. Since this is and has in the past kinda bordered on advertising for them which isn't what the forum is about it would remove any concerns on that.

Boy, things sure are mysterious over there. Why are they down to only 12 people? Who is making the parts? What happened to Bob Serva? Inquiring minds want to know!

I guess I missed something, I don't see how that would be advertising.  I have seen the same thing on this forum as I have on the Freedom Arms and Ruger forums that could be considered advertising.  Anyhow perhaps they would be interested in sponsoring it.  In my dealings with them they have been quite possibly the most polite and helpfull people I have dealt with in any industry.

I am pretty sure that Bob Serva is gone.  Whether of his own accord or otherwise, I cannot say.  When I read the above, it sort of sounded like things went the way they usually do on a buy out (read staff change).  The machinery should still be fairly new since most if not all of it was replaced when Bob Serva bought the company, and their production volume has not been high enough to wear it out since.  CZ knows a thing or two about not only making guns, but also running a gun company.  I don't know anything for sure, but I am glad they are still providing parts and at least talking about new revolvers.

"FUSION is a company formed by past Dan Wesson Firearms President, Bob Serva.  Bob Has been working in the industry and with the 1911 for over 20 years and understands the quality of parts needed to build a great 1911 pistol. Bob has created Fusion to offer the gunsmith  "Professional grade parts".  These part are the same parts the Pro's use to build their products.  Our Full  line-up of product  offerings will be available on our new web-site fusionfirearms.com by the end of  August."

Looks like Bob has been busy since leaving CZ/DW.

Might there be a 722 coming? I have a 744 and have been trying to find a 722 to go with it.
