Two 141's in 35 Rem and 7600 in 280 with the barrel trimmed back to 19".  It has had a Holosight on it for a few years and is now awaiting a VariXIII 1.75-6x transfer from my Model 7...which will get a VariXIII 2.5-8X in coming weeks.

It seems like pump rifles are not too popular in the south. Only occasionally do I ever see a pump at any of the ranges I shoot at. I don't know why but I don't even see them for sale in gun shops. Lots of bolt actions, semi autos and lever actions.

Wow more whelens then i thought would show up when i picked my gun up the classic for that year was also in whelen and all i heared was that i should have got the 700 and that it wouldn't shoot under 2" first time out with the 250 RN factory 3/4 " to 1 " all day under 1 " with my hand loads of 250 hornady rn and 4320 . i now live in louisiana but not many pumps here but grew up in PA capital of the pump rifle

There might be a reason that you do not see these guns for sell because
nobody wants to sell them.  Ihave a760 30/06 carbine  that I have owned for 25 years .I still pick it over my bolt or single shots for most hunts.mtn boy

I have a real nice 1954 .257 Roberts, and a .308 Carbine which started out as a 1953 30-06.   Got the carbine barrel and bolt (and two mags) from www.e-gunparts.com and made the switch in about 30 minutes.

How about:

     141 Remington in 35 Rem from 1946
     760 Remington in 35 Remington from 1952.
Here is some trivia - both are rust blued from the factory.

Remington 760 .30/06
Savage .30/30 carbine.  I think it's a M170, but I'm not certain.  I'm at work now and they get annoyed when I bring my toys in.     I'm embarased that I can't recall the model, but it doesn't see much use, even though it's bagged my biggest deer to date.  With that 18" (or so) barrel, it's a down right handy thing to have deep in da swamp.

I don't have one but have always wanted one. When I first started hunting, I hunted with two guys who both had Remington 760 BDL Carbines in 30-06.

I always liked that square foreend and basketweave checkering. I never see anybody hunting with one but I rarely see one for sale either.

I have a Remington model 14 in .25 Remington and a Remington Model 25 in .32-20. If you ever see a model 25 DO NOT TOUCH IT; you will have to have it :)  The model 25 was made in .25-20 and .32-20 and is on a .22 sized frame. It makes a neat little rifle, with a nice caliber for slightly larger animals than a .22.

I have a .32 Remington barrel for the model 14, but I haven't tried to switch the barrels yet. I would like to see how it would shoot!

I agree with the earlier post, I live in Georgia also, and I rarely see a center fire pump rifle in use or for sale. The only ones I remember seeing in use were a couple of guys that used to dog hunt deer down on the the Florida line. Semiautos were very popular for years, but the pumps never got that popular, even among people who shoot pump shotguns.

I have one pump rifle.....Savage model 170 in 30-30 circa 1971.  It's not the "C" carbine model like MainSpring has (and that C is rare).  Just shot again this season, it'll group quite tight at 50yds with open sights.  This is the gun dad bought me to carry on my first deer hunt of the same year.

Just one, a Remington 760 in 30-06, 150 Anniversary edition (1966).  Still shoots great.

Bringing back a old thread!

7600 rifle 6mm Remington. Have not set up this rifle yet. Only fired it with the factory sights.

7600 rifle 257 Roberts. This rifle is all set up with a 3X9 Nikon Pro Staff scope with Warne QD mounts and a leather sling. Rifle shoots very well but I have never hunted with it.

7600 rifle 25-06 Remington. This is the current Grice's special run in cool blue laminate. Had one in the same caliber in the gray/ black laminate stock but traded it away to fund the 257 Roberts.  I have a Nikon 3X9 Pro Staff, Warne mounts, and swivels all ready to set this gun up but have not had the time. Still need a leather sling. Hope to get this ready for this fall.

7600 rifle 7mm-08 Remington. This rifle is all set up same set up 3X9 Nikon Pro Staff, Warne QD mounts and leather sling. It is one of the anniversary editions with ugly engraving on the receiver. Rifle shoots very well but I have never hunted with this one either.

7600 carbine 30-06 Springfield. This rifle is my sons. It is set up with a 2X7 Nikon Pro Staff, Warne QD mounts and leather sling. My son has a slim build so he shot the Remington managed recoil ammo when he first started with this rifle. Now he shoots the standard 180 grain load and this rifle is a deer killer.

7600 rifle 35 Whelen. Same set up 3X9 Nikon Pro Staff, Warne QD mounts and leather sling. This is my #2 gun. Killed a small buck, several does and a yote with this rifle.  It is sighted in with 200 grain standard Remington loads and shoots very.

7600 carbine 35 Remington. 2X7 Nikon Pro Staff, O/U scope mount and leather sling. This is my #1 gun. Killed my best two bucks with this rifle 2005 and 2007. Since then I killed two small bucks and several does. This is my go to gun. Sighted in with standard Remington 200 grain loads. With the heavy carbine barrel it will put all of the shots into the same enlarged hole between 50 to 100 yards, my killing zone.

All of my 7600's have walnut stocks and blue finish. All are in pristine condition except the 35 carbine that shows some honest hunting wear.

I obviously favor the Nikon scopes and Warne QD mounts. I have taken the scopes off the Whelen when doing deer drives or in bad weather. I also use standard Remington loads in all of them.

I own lot's of other deer rifles but the pumps have been my favorite since 2003 when I bought my first one the 35 carbine.

Looking for two more to finish out my collection. Would like to find a 300 Savage and a 260 Remington.

If Grice's did another run on the 35 carbine in either blue of matte I would buy either or both.

Each year I write to Grice's recommending a carbine in 358 Winchester but I doubt it will ever happen.

These guns are fun to shoot and have given me much joy.

Mike.

One day I realized I don't like pumps so I got rid of all of mine. I have not missed them. I don't like them. Theres nothing wrong with them I just dont like them. I think that they are good looking, useful, practical  guns, but I don't like them.
