Found a load for the 4" 629.

My S&W 629 has let me know it really likes that 240 gr. WLNGC over 13 gr. of AA5 (1150 fps).  The recoil is snappy but manageable.  Anything hotter goes into the 6" Anaconda.

Dusty - every 29/629 I have shot likes a good 240 gn load, whether jacketed or cast.  And they always seem snappy.  But, the heavier loads I shoot do not seem to 'snap' as much as they do 'push', and are more comfortable to shoot.  Strange but true................. Mikey.

You bet Buzzer.  Just how close you have to be depends on your shooting skills but I'd use my 4" 629 out to 50 yards without a second thought (using a rest) and if I'd really put in some solid range time I'd go for 100 yrds (from a rest).
