I went to the range today and set up my chronograph to check out some loads. I have been carring it lately with 200 Grain Blazers 44 Special loads. They are loaded with the 200 Grainn Speer Gold Dot bullets. The 5 shot average was 864 fps with only nine fps extreme spread. This should make a fine carry load.
I had some 44 Magnum loads loaded up for practice loads with 8.0 grains of Unique and the 240 Grain LSWC. These averaged 870 fps and were real uniform.
Last week I shot some 180 grain PMC 44 Mag loads. These were awful hot and a bearcat for recoil. Plus that, they were sticky to extract. Today I shot some WW Supreme 250 Grain Nosler Partition Gold 44 Mag loads. These were a pleasant suprise averaging 1128 fps from my four inch barrel. These were Nickle Platted brass and extracted very easy. The extreme spread for five shots was an unbelievable 6 fps.
It was to windy to shoot for accuracy and the wind kept blowing my machine off the table. I fired four shots at a target at about 12 yards with the 44 Specials, they were right on the button at that range.
I have noticed that unless you briskly slam the cylinder shut, the front cylinder lock does not lock. I have to push it up until it snaps. Those with the Ultralite or Raging Bull might want to check your guns for this.
