I can't say enough about this rifle. I have been shooting it for a couple of months now, and continue to be amazed at how accurate and devistating it is.

It's a fun caliber and rifle, just as accurate as the 17hmr, but ammo costs less!!

Ammo is a bit less! I have a Savage 17 HMR and do believe my Mach 2 is a touch more accurate at 50yds. I shot yesterday in some heavy wind and still managed 3/8" at 50yds :-D 2 shots were almost in the same hole, and the last 3 were touching but had a 1/4" gap inbetween 1-2 and 3-5. Wind wasn't helping. I am finding it very hard to leave the Mach 2 at home. It always finds its way to the truck :-D  I have been taking it along groundhog hunting. When the Hogs aren't out, I grab the Mach2 and shoot starlings. Very fun caliber!!

I have four 17hmrs, a Sportster, 2 Marlins and a CZ452 American, they all shoot with their respective ammo less than moa. On my good days, 5 shots at 100yds from the CZ can be covered with a dime, the others aren't far behind. The 17M2 Sportster likes the Hornady and Remington ammo, but I'd like to try the CCI, got some but haven't shot it yet.

I have only shot Hornady out of my HMR and Mach2. I did try the XTP's out of the HMR and they shot very good, but I bought the HMR to be Very EXPLOSIVE so I stuck with the v-max. At 100yds I have shot a few 5/8" groups, but most are around 3/4". At 50 the Mach 2 is almost a one holer on a dead calm day! I seem to average about 3/8" at 50 with the HMR :?  I have yet to shoot a 100yd group with the Mach2. I feel that 100yds is really pushing its limits at that range.

I wouldn't want to shoot groundhogs past 100yds but have taken birds as far as 130yds. I think 150 is a doable range for PD's and smaller, but Not groundhogs! I guess I shouldn't make a judgement on range yet since I haven't got past 130yds! Alot of people say the HMR is a 100yd gun, But I have taken G-hogs out to 230yds. I only shoot for the head, but it does a wonderful job!
