has anyone heard of a remington 660 in the 308 cal.

I don't have my book handy at the moment, son BORROWED it, but if my memory serves me correctly Remington brought out the M660 in not only the .350 and 6.5 Rem. Mag. calibers they also chambered them for other short action calibers and one of them was the .308 Win..  Lawdog
Gary aka Lawdog is now deceased. He passed away on Jan. 12, 2006. RIP Lawdog. We miss you.

Rem 660 STP:
Calibers: .222 Rem.,6mm Rem.,.243 Win., .308 Win., 5-shot magazine (6-shot in .22 Rem.) 20-inch bbl. Weight 6.5 lbs. Sights open rear, bead front on ramp.  Monte Carlo stock, checkered, black pistol grip-cap and forend cap.  Made 1968-71.  $450.
