It was S&W day at a gun shop. A factory rep was on hand with a bunch of S&W pistols to shoot if one was interested. So, in addition to the M&P that I shot (and bought one) I also shot two 1911's. One was the 1911PD and the other was a 1911 tactical rail model. Both of these guns have the scandium frames. Really cut down on the weight of the guns. I was impressed handling the guns with the slide to frame fit and barrel lock up. These were demo guns and you could tell from all the powder residue that these guns had been shot alot over the past three days. Even so, the slide to frame fit was tight with just a barely perceptable movement in it. And the barrel lockup was tight with just a barely perceptable movement in it. For not being a custom hand fitted gun I thought it was excellent. The triggers were very crisp and I'd say between 4 and 5 lbs. The fit and finish on the guns looked very good. And did they shoot! Unfortunitely the range was only 15yds, but when a gun easily makes bullet hole next to bullet hole next to bullet hole for 8rds so that you wind up with a ragged hole; these guns can shoot.
