bought a S&W M&P!
« on: April 30, 2006, 04:02:17 PM »
Stopped by a gun shop today not knowing it was S&W days there. A S&W rep was there with about 20 guns that a person could shoot if they wanted to. Well I've been interested in the M&P, so I took it and fifty rounds onto the range. S&W has put together a GREAT GUN. This gun is going to be a big hit for S&W. It has one of the best grips I have ever felt on a pistol. It positions the hand very high close to the bore to help control recoil. The trigger is very shootable for this type of gun, you can load the trigger to where it is just ready to break and then alittle more pressure fires it. Recoil is very controlable. Sights are good. Fit and finish is nice. Very little play in the slide to frame fit and the barrel locks up tight. 15 rounds would produce a ragged hole about 1.5" in diameter at 15yds standing.  Never was a fan of Smith auto's before this, but Smith has got everything right on this one. 100% American made. This gun is going to make Smith a major player once again in the police gun market. I can't wait for the compact version towards the end of this year.

:cb2: I hope this one does better than their first Glock clone, the SW9, and the SW40. It got "Gun of the Year" and, our Highway Patrol jumped right on them. Then jumped off pretty quick. Never did find out what was wrong with the gun, but it sure kinda flopped.

Now if they'd bring back the REAL M&P (M13) in 3" .357 I'd sure snatch one up!   (Can you have too many .357s?) :bye:

Your M&P will shoot a ragged hole at 25?  Mine will too, and it was made in 1944 :) .

I got to agree Griz, a REAL M&P will always be a 6 shot, fixed sight 38/357 wheelgun.
