New 308 Survivor
« on: April 19, 2006, 02:03:34 PM »
:D  Well I finally picked my rifle off layaway today> I put a Scopechief 3-9x50 on top with Weaver rings and my trigger is smooth . crisp and clean at 3-31/2 pounds. How can you beat that for $ 206.00????? I won't be able to get to the range until next weekemnd and I'll let you know how it shoots. Can anyone teell me the size of the Limb Saver slip on that fits the Survivor? Thanks in advance. Jess :-)

For my Survivor I just used a cheapy slip on recoil pad.  I think I picked one up for under $5.

With the heavy barrel, I don't mind the 308 kick.  But since the Survivor has no pad from the factory, I wanted a little something to take out the sharpness.

Jess, the medium slip-on Limbsaver would be the one I'd try, I have a small and it doesn't fit well.

:D Thanks gentlemen for your advice I'l go with the medium sims and i am going to put a lace up cheek pc on it as well. My 3-9x50 lifts my head to far off the stock. I'll go with a 3/4" rise on the rifle and i'll post how it works.            Jess

I put the Bear Creek neoprene Cheek Pad on and boy what a difference. The Survivor stock feels very good now.  The instructions say to put a Pad on very top of the stock , used largest insert provided, then which isn't in the instructions put two of the larger inserts on the side of the stock and slid it up top touching the top pad. This is a very good feeling cheek pad now. No more sharp edges like before and my eye alignment is perfecto. Isn't the most attractive set up but we don't buy Handi's for their beauty anyway, but it sure is functional.  I did this for $ 17.00 at Spoprtsmans Warehouse. Jess :D
