Kimber 8400 Write Up in Guns & Ammo
« on: April 17, 2006, 06:37:28 PM »
Anyone have any experience with the Kimber 8400?

According to this month's G&A magazine, they're making it in a 30.06 length action in 30.06, 270, 300 Win Mag and 338 Win Mag.

It got the usual great write up.  I wonder if anyone has had any experience with them.

I have an 84M in 7-08 and a friend has a Montana in 300 wsm. You will have to look far and wide to find a better production rifle and their support is unbelievable. It will be Kimber, Sako and some Browning products for me.

I have one 8400 in the 270wsm classic. I have owned many guns but this is the best one for me ,fit ,feel, comfort and accurate .5 at 100yd. when I do my job. I also have an 84M Montana 7-08. It is brand new and I'm still working with ammo. Hornady 139 gr. Light Mags at .75 at 100yd. I plan on trying the Nosler 140 Solid Base next. I think Kimber rifles are the best non custom guns on the market. My next one will be the Kimber 8400 in the 25-06 Classic.

Got a .243 Kimber 8400 and totally love it.  Good feel, light weight and shoots straight.

I have three of them and have started selling off a few of the others. I have 2 8400's in 300WSM and 270WSM that both shoot 1/2" groups. My most recent addition was an 84M Varmint in 204 Ruger. It is shooting the best groups I have ever shot with ANY rifle. They are "Pre 64 Model 70'S" with custom shop attention to every one. I have ZERO complaints about mine.

I have been using Hornady 32 grainers. Just loaded up some Bergers and will try them on my next trip out.

I compared the Kimbers when I was shopping, but found that the Weatherby Fibermarks are much nicer guns (unless you need a wood stock.)
