Rifles in 7.62 X 54R
« on: April 17, 2006, 03:31:00 PM »
Im looking for a rifle in this caliber,  but Im not finding many.  Other than 60-70 year old mosin nagants, I don't see anything else.

The only other rifles I see are the semi-auto russian SVDs and the romanian PLS (romak-III)......

Where Can I find some good-ole fasion bolt actions in this round

thanks

You can either find an old sporter like I did. You can build one, or .......those are the options.

I'll second krochus.  If you get a nice Monte Carlo stock, have the bolt handle bent, and get the ATI scope rail for a Mosin, you'll have a pretty good little sporting rifle.   A little awkward, but not overly so.

I've thought about doing this myself on several occasions, but it's been hard for me to justify putting the money into it when in the end I'd end up with a rifle in 7.62x54R, which is just too similar in power to the .30-06 and 8x57mm  sporting rifles I already have.

And BTW krochus: very nice rifle.  Most of the good stocks I've seen have been Boyd's or Richards.   That one looks like neither (which is good IMHO.  uniqueness is a great thing ).
