I bought a new M44SS6 and found that using it SA, at least 1 but usually 2 times the cylinder does not index. :(  Anyone had similar problems or suggestions on a fix?

After 200 rounds I am seriously considering trading it for a 44 Redhawk. No good taking a gun hunting that you have no confidence in.

I had a stainless 44, 4-inch that I put a lot of rounds through.  It was very reliable, other than one charge hole that was out of time.  I think with Taurus that it's very important to dry fire the weapon 12-18 times before you purchase it.  The quality control doesn't seem to be on par with the likes of S&W.

It seems to be hit or miss with Taurus revolvers.  Either you get a great one, or you get a slug.  I would highly suggest that you get the gun back to Taurus for service, and just bear it out.  Your service experience may be great, or it may be terrible.  Either way, it needs to be addressed by the company.

This is the strange thing, I can sit and single action fire unloaded and it indexes fine. I can do this all day until the cows come home and not one problem. This ONLY happens when actually firing, like I say on occassion.

Well I sent the gun to Taurus on 5/4/06 and got it back Friday on 6/9/06. Taurus adjusted the Yoke and hand and Saturday I put 48 rounds through it and not a problem now with indexing.

I think 4 weeks is a pretty reasonable turn around time and it did not cost me a cent, not even s&h. I heard some of the horror stories about customer service but I am sold on the Taurus Lifetime Warranty and customer service.
