Browning BAR 'Versions'?
« on: April 08, 2006, 03:54:59 PM »
I've got a new Browning BAR Safari in .308 ordered and I was looking for a spare magazine for less than the $45 plus S&H that most stores (like Cabelas) have.

On Ebay, I found a magazine, but the seller was asking if I had a MK-I or MK-II.  Are current, new rifles the MK-II versions?

How many versions of the BAR have been produced and what are the differences?  The Browning website doesn't list any MK designation, just shows the rifle as the 'BAR Safari'.

Obviously, this is my first Browning and I need some education.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I belive the new ones are MRK 2, you need to look at the clip and see if it has the notch in it for your action relase. The old BAR's don't have the new action relase button, and the clips don't either.
