Tikka T-3 Hunter Price Check Request
« on: April 07, 2006, 09:05:03 AM »
Searches on gunsamerica, auction arms and gunbroker are a bust for used Tikka T-3 Hunter (wood stock) prices.  This one is in very good shape, 97% or so.  What would a fair market price be?

Thanks.

Alan

They seem to hold their value well in my area. Wouldn't be much of a savings to buy a used one over new, if you could find one.
Plus you never know how the barrel was broke in, if it was at all, what temp variations the barrel experienced at the range I guees to make a long story short I would just try to buy new.

About a month ago I was in the local Scheels store and they had new std. cals for $499 and the mags for $529. This may help you on the price check?  Zeak

Thanks Zeak...

Are those prices for the wood stocked Hunters or the plastic stocked Lites?

As stated, prospective buyers could have concerns about how the rifle has been treated, how well it shoots etc. If it is a one hole (or close to it) shooter as many Tikkas are, you might consider taking it to your local gun range, doing 3 shot groups and having the range master certify them including date, range at which they were shot, etc. It couldn't hurt.

Interesting suggestion lilabner...of all the classified ads I've seen, none have "certified" groups.  I do have a target available that can be verified by a scope impact technician, showing a .481" group with 180 gr. Accubonds and a .750" group with 165 gr. Ballistic Tips, shot back-to-back in a shooting tunnel.  But, it still doesn't suggest what the fair market price of the rifle is??  I'm amazed that there are next to no used Tikka Hunters available.

I had a local shop quote me $550+ tax for a T3-Lite in .270.  The same shop quoted $535 about 3 months ago.

Thanks JDuece...but I am looking for a fair market value of a used Tikka Hunter...in an honest 97%+ , well cared for condition: Leupold mounts and rings, new Simms Limbsaver pad.  Anyone?  For example, is $400-$425 reasonable....unreasonable??

Well that is a good deal, but www.budsgunshop.com has a brand new one for $466. Then there is no question about how it is cared for.  Then there is still enough time for you to save up $$$ before hunting season for a quality scope to put on such a fine rifle.

If that $466 price was for a T-3 Hunter, that would in fact be a killer price.

I'll run it locally for $400ish and see what happens.  Thanks to all for the input.
