« on: April 06, 2006, 06:23:12 PM »
I'm looking to buy eather a wood/blued Ruger 44 bolt or a stainless 16" Puma 454.I was wondering how reliable Puma rifles are.Will they hold up after a lot of rounds?Can you shoot 45 LC's out of it.If anyone has eather of these rifles let me know what you think of them.It will help me buy something new to play with.Thanks.

Dave;
I have a Ruger 77/44 and really like it!

I've shot it quite a bit, and I've hunted with it a few times, but haven't been able to get a shot at a deer yet! I have a Weaver 2.5 power scope on it!  I think that magnification is ideal for the 44 Mag!
I've modified the magazine enough to where I can now use 240 grain cast SWC's!  Now I have to work up a good load for them!  But first I need to cast some more bullets!

Just got a new Ruger Super Blackhawk and shot up all of my cast bullet supply!

I have an LSI Puma 20"blue job.So far so good.I have never fed it any max loads and see no need to.The rounds I load rock me enough.I shoot only 454s with 300gr Hornady XTPs and some 250s with H110, they will shoot the 45 Colt as well.
I'll vouch for the Puma.
