Maybe you need to divide the data by frequency of change; that is, have one forum for current info (this one) and a second one for the stickies and other reference material such as plans and photos of completed and/or underway projects.

There would be no need to limit the number of stickies.  Posters could link to items in the reference side in their current posts.

You could even divide the reference forum into several pieces, the common thread being relatively static material, while the General forum would remain the place for asking questions, etc.

Which stickies would you combine or even delete.

The Safety and FAQ's might be combined.
Or you can do to stickies what this poll is about. Have a super stickie (maybe called Rules,Safety, FAQ's, references and Where to find) with each of the current stickies as a thread within it.
Then a second stickie for the plans and pictures.
I may not be completely sane, but at least I don't think I have the power to influence the weather.

The Where to find Blackpowder Cannons and shooting supplies post will remain as it is.  It's already pretty big but is also is a matter of Board  pride.  It is the most viewed post on Graybeards and that includes the 99 time it's been edited.

Tim and I will be emailing back and forth after the poll closes and you should see some changes later next week one way or another.

Actually I believe that's a false claim.    Or at least was last time I checked. The NEF Guys have you beat by their similar FAQ or at least did the last time I checked.

I think folks are misunderstanding exactly what the proposal was. It wasn't so much a SPLIT of the current forum as it was an addition of new forums which DIVIDE the totality of Mortars and Cannons into a few sub areas. This forum would be moved there intact. Some posts from it might be moved by your moderators but not by me or Matt.

Now I don't have a real interest in cannons so cannot say what you guys might think on the matter but....It seems to be that if a person was interested ONLY in toy cannons or miniature cannons he'd like not having to sif thru info on big firing cannons to find what he wanted and vice versa. But then that's just me. I really con't care one way or the other if it stays status quo or changes but the sponsors seem to like the proposal.

I have been waiting to respond to see what way the tide was turning.  I like the idea but I can see both sides.  I think it would be much easer to navigate and find information.  I can also understand how those with dial-up would have problems with it.  It seams to me that the main forum would still have the most traffic.  Those with dial-up could check that one regularly and check the others once or twice a week without missing anything.  I have watched the forum grow since IÂ’ve been a member and I can see that it will out grow the current setup in the future.  I am voting yes for change.

The polls are now closed while Tim and I ponder the results.  Of course I have to wait until he gets out of bed as he is 6 hours behind time wise.  It's 11:30 AM as I write this, 5:30 AM in VA.
