You probably can't.
But, you can buy a cheap model with the action you want and upgrade from there.

I'm in the process of building two Savages. One is a cheapie that is getting some of the parts from the better grade rifle plus a new barrel and lug.

There is a market for the extra factory take-off parts with the exception of the cheaper plastic stocks.

My limited experience has been that you can peruse the  'pawn shop' market and find a complete rifle cheaper than you can buy an action only.
No single shots..........

Strip down the rifle and add parts as you like..............

  WHATS THE NORTHLANDER WEB SIGHT? I TRIED PUTTING NORTHLANDER IN THE ADDRESS BOX. THEY SELL SAVAGE ACTIONS?
  THE SAVAGE SINGLE SHOTS ARE HARD TO FIND! I HAVE ONE WITH A SHILLEN 222 MAG. IMPROVED THAT SHOOTS IN THE TWOS! AND I WOULD LIKE TO BUILD ONE IN 22 6MM IMP. WITH A FAST TWIST BARREL.

Northlander is the user name of a man named Jim Briggs.  He is the owner of Northland Shhoters Supply, outside of the Twin Cities on MN.

He is a poster and advertiser on the Savage Shooters forums

Yes Northlander has Savage and Stevens actions for sale. I bought a BVSS stock from him a while back and was very happy with the transaction. I don't think you will be able to buy a long action single shot action. If I'm not mistaken only the short actions come in single shot.

whats his web sight name? i found bullet coatings but no sight.
you might have the long short action thing backwards, as i have a single shot action that i think is a long action. but i'd have to check.

I have known Jimmy for some time and he it great to deal with.  Just got a 12bvss short action in stainless (single shot) from him with a Choate Varminter stock.

Send him an email, he will get back with you pretty quick.
