short action

I am shopping for a light short action deer rifle. I am considering an A Bolt. My question is about the actual size and weight of the short action verses the long action. Is the short action considerably smaller? I have been told the actions are the same size and the bolt just stops in a different place. The A Bolt Titanium interests me.

A true short action does have a short length action. Some manufacturers sell short action caliber is long actions. It cuts 1-2 inches off the gun and they ussually have 16.5-20 inch barrels. Instead of 22-24s.
You can't go wrong with a Rem 7 in 7mm08!

Or if you are going for something light a .243 or .25-06 is a good choice for deer

I have a browning A-Bolt micro hunter in 7mm-08 that I really like. To me it is a great little deer rifle that weighs in at just 6lbs 4 ozs . Also comes in 243 win and 308 win

25-06 is a great round, but it is long action. If action length really doesn't bother you, then it's worth a look.
