Anyone shot one of the new PT745's? Held one at the gun shop over the week end and liked it. Wants $319. New with 2 mags. Comments?

I bought a new SS PT745 last November for $350. I have put over 500 factory and reloaded FMJ and JHP rounds through it - absolutely no problems. I have a Kimber TLE which I love. But I bought this to try out DAO, and it is a much less expensive pistol to leave in my truck.
After shooting the Kimber, the PT745 trigger took a little getting used to, but is learned quickly. I was pleasantly surprised by how accurate this pistol is. The June 2005 Gun Tests magazine rates this pistol highly. They said to beware of recoil, but again I was pleasantly surprized. If you are used to a 1911's recoil, the PT745 will not be uncomfortable. The grips and sights are fine, although I miss my Kimber's tritium dots.
IMHO, this is a great compact 45 ACP pistol for the money.

I purchased a PT745 about 3 weeks ago from my local dealer ($275 +tax included here in Raleigh NC).

I took it to the range after I made an initial cleaning of the firearm. I fed it over 100 - 230 Gr Hardball, 185Gr JHP and a few CorBons. Zero malfunctions and damn accurate for my old eyes. I went back and shot it again last week and same story. It will eat what you feed it. Granted the trigger pull isnt Kimber or Colt but it is not bad. I am impressed and it has become my compact big bore carry gun. I am prone to stick a .22Mag NAA derringer in my front pocket so I dont always carry this compact 45 but if I feel the need that is what I am gonna tote.

The local dealer I got mine from has received about 75 of these guns and sold all but 10 or 12 so far at $275.

A further note: The apparant felt recoil of this gun seems lighter to me than other 45's I have owned and or shot. I am attributing that to the grip and grip angle. I Have owned the smaller Glocks (30 & 36) and I would not ever buy another. They bite my hand and my finger.

Thats my 2cents. Well I will add this....Buy One. You will love it I suspect.

Thanks, I had similar experiences with a PT145 that I traded away in a weak moment. Wish I had it back. Might have to try the 745.
