T3 Scope Choice

Are any Tikka owners out here putting 50mm obj scopes on your rifles?  What mounts are you using?

I have used Leupold bases and medium rings successfully. I just removed a 56 mm  with a 30mm tube it was mounted  with the medium height rings. I'm  going to the low mounts with a 40 mm 1" tube. The former scope was just too heavy for me. I need to sell a Nikon Monarch Gold and a Bushnell 3200 with 50mm obj and a 30 mm tube. Looks like I'll be going to the Leupold 4.5-14 x 40 in vx111.

a45gunslinger, $500.00 for the Nikon and $300.00 for the Simmons. The rings go with them , low or medium.

I guess I don't get the whole 50mm thing. :?  Just buy a quality 40mm and you'll be fine.



Tikka M595 topped with a Elite 4-16x40 4200.  Burris mounts and leupy low rings.  WDO

Thanks for the replies -  I don't have anything against a 40mm.  I just happen to have a VXII - 3x9x50 in my safe that I want to use.  I don't feel like dropping another $350 - $500 on a new scope.

But, to your point, doesn't a 50mm draw in a little more light for those last few minutes of legal shooting time?

So they say.  I have had a VXIII in 50mm and now the 4200 in 40mm.  I have compared them side by side at the same power.  Both day and night and I could read smaller print  with the 4200 than with the Leupy.  The 4200 was brighter than the VXIII in low light(well after sunset).  WDO

hey
  my 300 wsm t 3 wears a ziess 3.5x10x50 in the factory rings
 so it could be done  probably would depend on the scope though
i know the ziess fits but others i have no idea

Ihave a t3 varmit and the factory med rings wont fit amything larger than
40 mm obj .I had weaver grand slam bases (#61)laying around and burris
rings (med) fits nikon monarch 6.5 20 x44 with plenty of room to spare.

My Tikka 300 Win Mag wears a Leupold 3.5X10X50MM. I have the high Tikka rings. Works great and looks good.  :D
