Geez, it wouldn't be so bad ifn you just bought the b....bo....bol.....savage, but to get rid of the Handi too!!!

I know quick....I'm sinning to get rid of the handi, but just getting out of college, there isn't alot of excess funds to mess around with, so something has to get sacrificed in order to fund other projects.  I'm thinking I might get a 45/70 in the future though to mess around with shooting cast bullets since I just started making my own.  Might even be worth lobbing a few of those fat slugs at a groundhog or two to see what it would do.

I personally am a fan of Savage rifles, as I am "other" manufactures :wink: , good thing is that there are usually no shortage of Handi's. When it comes time to get what you want, you'll most likely find it.  I hear ya on the funding part...what an expensive hobby to be in huh? :-D Another great thing about these little guys :agree:

Myarmor,

Here's a couple hogs that I got the other day.  The left one was at 327 paces, and the right one was a gimme at 117 paces.  It's a mod. 11 22-250 using Hornady factory loads.  Gotta shoot some more of these so that I can have some brass to start loading for this rifle.  Have a good'un!  :D

Knight0334    I live 45 miles south of you, all ya gotta do is take a drive! all the dairy & beef, horse farms around here will welcome you with open arms! let me know sometime and I'll show you around, cause these guys do'nt want mamma propagating, and ther are lots! and no I80 nearby were you might get blamed for being a sniper!

cattleskinner- good shoot'n...that 22-250 is a doozy, no doubt. What glass are you using on it?
Once you start reloading for it you'll find a wealth of reloading data for it as well.
My friend shot a rabbit at about 110 yards(..yeah..LONG SHOT huh :-D ) with my 223 Ultra with some Barnes XLC 53gr HP handloads....man :eek: what a mess.
In all fairness the rabbit was eat up with ticks and all, so he didn't feel to bad about it.

It's a Bushnell Banner 6-24x40 mil-dot scope.  I had it on my 223 handi rifle when I had it, and the other savage rifles that I had before this one, and it just keeps on ticking along.  Keeps zero great, repeatable, and tracks good.  I reloaded for that handi rifle, and now am looking forward to doing it for this one too.  I got a group that was right at, or a touch more than 1/2" with those factory rounds, so I'm really looking forward to wringing this one out to see what it'll do.  Just need to pick up a lee loader, or a set of dies for it.  Not really sure what I want to use, as I like using both.  I've gotten great groups with the lee loader before, so I might pick one of those up to begin loading for this rifle too, as I don't have, nor have ever had another 22-250 to worry about fl resize the brass.

First blood this spring!

I dusted off a big old field rat yesterday evening near my chicken coop with a load of 7-1/2s from my 20 gauge Topper.  I know not much better than cheatermk3's fly but at least I used a gun.  :lol:

Does popping bumble-bees with a cap & ball revolver w/just powder, wad and grease count?  ...If so, chalk up 4 kills for me.

Hoping to get out next weekend to sight in my .223 for chucks & yotes.   gonna be too be too busy this weekend setting up a home office.

Yep, don't know what it is about these inexpensive little singe shots but they sure are darn fun.  I haven't had my Mossberg pump out since New Years Eve.  (It's a tradition with me to let fly with 3 rounds from the ol' 12 at midnight)  My .410 barrel normally has varmint duty but the 20 happened to be mounted on the Topper frame and I didn't figure the little booger would wait around for me to change barrels.  Nailed him at about 25 yards, he never knew what hit him.  Instead of eating my corn this year the little sucker will be fertilizing it.  :)

The yotes are getting thick up in MA.  I had one slip by within 12 feet of me in my folks front yard last year while up visiting with them.  I was hauling their trash cans up to the street when I caught movement out of the corner of my eye. Kind of unnerving to think he was that close and I never heard a sound.  On a previous trip my wife and I met one coming straight down the middle of the road toward us while we were out for our early morning walk. We kept walking right toward each other until at about 40 yards he decided to make a sharp left down someones driveway and into the woods behind their house.  Wife says to me "That was a scraggly looking dog."  I just said "Ah.. yeah."   Didn't tell her till we got home what it really was.  :lol:

True. Especially the little buggers. They are very scraggly! They do look a little better once the grow up a bit though. :biggun:
It's funny, sometimes they are the Willyest game out there, other times..uhhh, don't seem to phase them. Especially the ones running around in the more popular suburb areas.
