opinions on savage FV12
« on: March 14, 2006, 05:42:48 PM »
I have been wanting a varmint rifle in .223 for awhile and have always been a Remington man when it comes to bolt actions, but I see Bass Pro is going to have a Savage FV12 for $420. I would like to hear some honest opinions about the Savage as far as out of the box accuracy, reliability, customer service etc. The price is half of the rifle I was looking at so I am curious what you get for half the money. Thanks for any feedback.

I have a model 12 stainless, laminated varmint in 223. It is an excellent rifle. Very accurate. What I think you get for half the price is a better more accurate rifle.

i know nothing about 223,however i have 3 savage rifles 25/06,250 savage(rebarrel),and 308. all three shoot .750" or better at 100 if i'm having a good day. the 25/06 is a 110fp and consistantly shoots under an inch at 200 once again if i can do my part. old hands and old eyes are always a handicap; some days better, some worse. for OTB accuracy you won't go wrong with savage,IMO.
GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!
IF YOU'RE GONNA GET OLD,YOU BETTER BE TOUGH!! GETTIN' OLD AIN'T FOR SISSIES!!!
